IRS Reveals New Website

Apr 19, 2020 10:07:10 AM

The IRS has introduced two new websites for taxpayers to keep track of their Economic Impact Payment and/or to provide more data to the IRS so that the funds can be automatically deposited.

GET MY PAYMENT SITE

THE IRS’S NEW GET MY PAYMENT SITE ALLOWS TAXPAYERS TO CHECK ON THEIR ECONOMIC IMPACT PAYMENT DATE AND TO UPDATE DIRECT DEPOSIT INFORMATION.

THE SITE ALSO ALLOWS TAXPAYER TO USE THE “WHERE’S MY REFUND?” TOOL TO SHOW THE PROJECTED DATE WHEN A DEPOSIT IS SCHEDULED. MORE SIGNIFICANTLY, THIS SITE WILL ALLOW INDIVIDUALS TO PROVIDE CURRENT BANK INFORMATION. THIS FEATURE CAN BE USED BY TAXPAYERS WHO DID NOT USE DIRECT DEPOSIT ON THEIR LAST FILED RETURN OR TO UPDATE THE BANK INFORMATION.

NON-FILERS: ENTER PAYMENT INFO

In addition, the new Non-filers: Enter Payment Info tool can be used by taxpayers who did not file returns for 2018 or 2019 due to no filing requirement.

The IRS previously announced that those receiving Social Security retirement or disability benefits and Railroad Retirement benefits will receive their Economic Impact Payments without needing to take any action. However, if eligible taxpayers have qualifying children under age 17 (for which an additional $500 payment can be received) and have not filed tax returns for 2018 or 2019, they can use the Non-filers: Enter Payment info tool to provide the needed information. If they do not enter this information, taxpayers will need to wait until later in the year to receive the additional payment.
